The needling sensation, TCM named the "arrival of qi," is regarded as the indication of acupuncture effectiveness. The patient may feel a dull ache, heaviness, distention, tingling, or electrical sensation either around the needle or traveling up or down the affected meridian. Meanwhile, the practitioner may experience tightness and dragging around the needle similar to a fish taking the bait.
