Pericardium
Pericardium refers to the tissues surrounding the heart. Structurally it is a membrane surrounding the heart, and physiologically it protects the heart. When exogenous pathogens invade the heart, the pericardium is always the first to be attacked. For example, invasion of the pericardium by pathogenic heat gives rise to symptoms of mental disturbances such as coma and delirium, presents the same manifestations as those of the heart. Therefore, the pericardium is not generally viewed as an independent organ, but as an attachment to the heart. The pericardium meridian communicates with the triple burner; the two have an exterior and interior relationship.
